Clinically proven formula provides visible and long lasting protection with the benefits of Ceramide which helps to restore and maintain the protective skin barrier. The hydration of the stratum corneum depends directly on the bound water: Part (approx. 70%) of this bound water (that bound to proteins) is difficult to extract. The other part, retained in the interlamellar space, can be eliminated by treatment with detergents (SDS) or with solvents (chloroform / methanol).
Treatment with chloroform or detergents generally leads to an increase in the insensible loss of transepidermal water (PIE).
Curiously, while the flow of water through the skin increases significantly, the skin dries up on the surface. This is explained by the decrease in the water retention capacity of the stratum corneum caused by the destruction of the ceramic bilayers, water collectors in transit.
